It was a case of the blind leading the blind at the  Colonial Pub in Antibes on Saturday 30th November 2002 as novice auctioneer and Caroline South DJ Mark Dezzani put a wide variety of celebrity memorabilia under the hammer.

'Who Let The Dogs Out' was the title of the 2nd Annual Charity Auction to raise money for the Guide Dog School of Biot.

Amongst the items to attract the highest bids was The Beatles Greatest Hits CD '1' signed by Ringo Starr.

The event is organised by Julie Davies (second left) and her team of untiring volunteers. David Brachtvogel (back row with moustache) co-presented the auction with Mark.

This years event was sponsored by The Riviera Gazette weekly newspaper and Radio Caroline South. Over 2,250 euro were raised, more than doubling funds collected at the debut auction last year.

Top prices were bid for signed memorabilia donated by Roger Moore, Ringo Starr, Brigitte Bardot, Justin Hayward, George Michael, Rolf Harris, Ruby Wax, Graham Norton, Frank Bruno, Victoria Woods and Carol Drinkwater amongst others.

Local resident Paul Butler is pictured here receiving an autographed picture of legendary Saint & Bond actor Roger Moore after placing the highest bid. Paul then generously gave the picture to his rival bidder saying 'I am here for the guide dogs!'
